I’m back..

From starting therapy, to working on my first music project, I can finally say I’m happy again. After dealing with depression on and off for a year, I’m in a better mental place. I found out that God’s love and self-love was all I needed to get through those dark moments in my life. I made a promise to myself to always put myself first, and to make sure that I am comfortable in any situation that I encounter. I’ve awarded myself with love and consistency that only I could give; it has been very refreshing.

After going to therapy and explaining to my therapist about the things I’ve been dealing with, he informed me that I was dealing with people who may have reached their capacity of what they had to offer me, and that it was time to let them go. It sounds selfish to just let people go because they’re not doing what I want them to do, right? WRONG!!!!! EVERYONE deserves to have like-minded people around them. If I show you love, I strongly believe that I should receive it in return. Find yourself a neighbor and say RECIPROCITY!!

Consistency is something that I’ve wanted from other people, but I’ve discovered that it’s what I’ve needed from myself all along. I made other’s actions strive toward my own destiny, but I’ve learned that my destiny has nothing to do with others. Realizing this helped me with my depression. I had to make all the necessary changes to get to where I am today.

I encourage this to anyone who is going through depression. You may feel unimportant by loved ones or friends, but now is the time to take a step back and give yourself everything you’ve wanted and needed. The songs say, “You’ve got to love yourself, before you love anybody else.”

  1. Wow, I am beyond happy for you that you have found your inner peace/happiness. Many people make the mistake of thinking others are supposed to make them happy but truly you have to make yourself happy. I have made this same mistake myself. This post couldn’t be any more right or relatable. It is a true description of how you should treat yourself in order to be happy and stop surrounding yourself with people who don’t add to your life in a positive light or reciprocate the same love your show them. I agree with you 100%. Keep this up. Your are a big positive influence in many peoples lives including my own and I thank you for that.

  2. Thanks for this. I too am a person who was guilty of living and achieving and seeking other’s validation and approval/acceptance. You’re blog is spot on! You find yourself lost trying to get recognition. Good for you that you’re learning to take care of yourself first. I pray that you get better and stronger and achieve all of the goals that you’ve set for yourself! Love you❤️
